Voting in the Wake of Natural Disasters & Major Disruptions

ABOUT THE SERIES

Come Hell or High Water is a multi-event series bringing together election officials, veteran organizations, and community leaders to explore how elections are administered during and after major crises.

The series includes three in-person events tied to the anniversaries of major natural disasters: Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas, Hurricane Helene in Asheville, North Carolina, and Hurricane Milton in Florida. Each event features local election officials discussing disaster preparedness and response.

Virtual events round out the series, covering broader disruptions such as COVID-19, historical civil unrest, and ongoing threats like wildfires in Washington state. These conversations focus on digital health and hygiene, AI, and cross-jurisdictional collaboration.

Throughout, the series highlights the resilience of election infrastructure and the people who sustain it: veteran poll workers, election clerks, and community volunteers.
